Some information about Yard Pests
While yard pests aren’t particularly dangerous or problematic, some people would prefer not to have them. The different types of yard pests include earwigs, crickets, millipedes and slaters and grass ticks.
Earwigs have a funny, elongated shape. Depending on the species, they are usually wingless and nocturnal. Earwigs prefer to be in dark, confined spaces like under rocks or logs. They thrive on eating living and dead plant matters. Although not seen as major pests, they can sometimes invade houses, vegetable or flower gardens.
Grasshoppers, crickets, locusts
Another pest that is sometimes portrayed in popular culture and known for their singing, these pests can be annoying but again, are usually harmless. Think back to the ten plagues of Egypt – locusts used to be responsible for crop damage in ancient times. Luckily for you they shouldn’t be falling down from the sky but many can jump. The best way to spot these pests is to listen for them!
